YELMER 6TH IN FIRST RACE TRUST TEAM ARDEN.
Vitaly Petrov has won the race on Saturday at Sepang. The Russian began the race, in extreme wet conditions, from 17th position and completed a faultless race where many others failed. Fairuz Fauzy and Jerome d'Ambrosio completed the podium. Yelmer Buurman finished his debut race in a well deserved sixth position.

After over four weeks of waiting the GP2 Asia series travelled to Sepang for the third Grand Prix weekend. Championship leader Romain Grosjean managed to grab ple position, but at the start of the race he stalled his engine. Bruno Senna took the lead, coming from the second row.
Right after the start heavy showers came down. Many drivers were unable to cope with the extreme conditions on track. Ben Hanley crashed into Hiroki Yashimoto, while Filippi, Valerio and Bonanomi spun off track. The race was red flagged and after twenty minutes the race would restart - all cars fitted with wet Bridgestone tyres.
The race got underway with a warm-up lap behind the safety car. Bruno Senna was supposed to lead the field but the Brazilian stalled his engine and had to begin the restart of the race in last position.
As the track dried out drivers came in for slicks. Fairuz Fazuy was the first to opt for new tyres, which in the end was probably a bit too early. He eventually was back on track six seconds behind on Petrov, racing in second position. Valles was leading the race but while racing on cold tyres the Spaniard crashed into Buemi. It was the end of the race for both men.
Petrov won Race 1 at Sepang, ahead of Fauzy and d'Ambrosio. Valsecchi drove a steady race and finished fourth ahead of team mate Kobayashi in fifth.
